With all of the Gun Violence occurring, it has really brought this topic to the forefront of conversation. Schools of the Future: What do they have to be like so we don’t have Gun Violence controlling our every move? Is it due to the lack of parental guidance? The increase in protection of minors so that parents are afraid to even yell at their kids? Is it the increase in information at a very young age? I’m sure there are a thousand other arguments. But we agree (I hope) that the Schools of the Future have to change for the better.
Columbine High School:
On April 20th, 1999, at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado, it seemed to be the first of many truly horrific school shootings over the next 24 years. Two teenagers in the 12th grade committed the massacre at Columbine High School, killing 12 classmates and one teacher. This was a terrible situation that only got worse over time. In response, some police departments enacted new protections. They had no idea how many police departments would adopt these protocols in the years to come.
After this attack, the debate on gun violence renewed and began to get hot and heavy. Also, how we are taking care of our children in school really began to become a real topic of conversation. It would take another 10 years of ever-increasing violence in our schools until it all came to a head once more.
Sandy Hook Elementary School:
December 14th, 2012, Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown, Connecticut. This shooting was even more horrific, if that is even possible. It has been 13 years, and we still have not gotten control of gun violence. And the school shootings have gotten much worse since they became a regular thing. It is almost so regular that America is getting numb to it, it seems. Then a Gunman Opens Up in an Elementary School, Killing 20 Children between Six and Seven Years Old. Also among the Dead are six Adults who are also on Staff there! The Nation is outraged that an act of violence has happened to a group of small children. The gunman is a mentally handicapped 20-year-old who also killed his mother earlier in the day.
Robb Elementary School:
Robb Elementary School, in Uvalde, Texas, is the latest in a string of 27 mass school shootings in 2022. There were 19 Children and 2 adults killed at this one; how many more are we supposed to endure?
Did you know it took a Global Pandemic to stop School Shootings? Only five are known to have happened during the lockdown, but as soon as schools opened back up, there were 27 in 2022. Maybe we should go back into lockdown mode. I mean, it is our kids safety we are talking about, not to mention our unpaid teachers we expect to keep safe. We could always put it back on our police to keep them safe; lord knows we pay, then well, oh yeah, we don’t.
What if I Told You that, We Have a Solution!
What if I told You that We Have a Solution concerning the Schools of the Future? Well, so far, it has all the looks of a solution moving forward. You have to own a computer, have access to the internet, and have someone watch your kids if they are young. That’s right, an online private school where the teachers have to be charismatic or the kids and their parents choose a new teacher.
With everyone shutting down and not moving around during the COVID-19 disaster. We got a good look at what the school system had to go through to quickly set up an online school. This was for a whole lot of students nationwide, and they did it. It also got a lot of eyes looking at the schooling system and having second thoughts.
